Job Title : Operations Manager, Autonomous Racing Team (West Lafayette, IN, US)

This position will be filled as an Operations Manager (P2) or Senior Operations Manager (P3). The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

 

The Operations Manager is responsible for all the project management tasks of a student autonomous vehicle racing team. Duties include planning, logistics, compliance, and racing hardware administration as part of a Purdue University sponsored autonomous racing team. Analyze and coordinate schedules, timelines and milestones, procurement, staffing, and budget. Develop and continually improve processes that student teams must follow to release software; ensure best practice project management processes are followed; facilitate planning exercises with student team members to assist students in identifying functions and features to develop. Schedule activities by various sub-teams to ensure project meets milestones and schedules as required. Confer with faculty, administration and others; monitor/review/update schedules, timelines, milestones; develop status reports, budget summaries and other project documentation.

What We Are Looking For

 

Education and Experience:P2 Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in motorsports, engineering, computer science, business or related, with project management coursework, thesis or other elements
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the racing vehicle industry. (Must include project management, software development process or other highly relevant experience)

 

P3 Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in motorsports, engineering, computer science or business or related, with project management coursework, thesis or other elements
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in the racing vehicle industry. (Must include project management, software development process or other highly relevant experience)

 

Skills:Required:

  • Project management skills
  • Organizational skills with an attitude of continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with racing and vehicles
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with software development teams and processes

 

Additional Information

  • This position requires the ability to be on-site in West Lafayette, IN with some time spent in Indianapolis, IN
  • Purdue University will not sponsor employment authorization for this position

  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible for Overtime)
